I am Laman. In all things. I’m always going to assume the worse possible outcome. Unfortunately in this case, he’s actually right.

Random story of being a teacher’s aide of the day:

As I’m walking down the hall to the teacher’s lounge to heat up my lunch, a fourth grade student who is loitering in the hallway steps in front of me and, completely unprompted, gives me a lengthy explanation of why she is there. I blink, look at her, and reply:

“…Okay. And you’re telling me this…why?”

She shuffles her feet and responds, a little confused, “…because you were looking really suspicious.”

“Well,” I responded, “Perhaps I just have a suspicious face.”

BECAUSE I TOTALLY DIDN’T SUSPECT ANYTHING AFTER THAT PARTICULAR ENCOUNTER.

Kids, man. Always able to make your day just a little more surreal. Any randomly weird encounters happen recently in your life?

And the plot thickens... Again. I'm very interested to see more of how these potentially dangerous pacts with gods work. It seems like the ability to speak with them is already a precarious privilege.

Just recently I ran into a guy I knew my freshman year of high school. I hadn't seen him in three years and he'd come back to visit the art teacher. I was walking by the two of them as they were talking in the hall, did a double take and just sort of stood there smiling like an idiot until he stopped and I could give him a big hug. We didn't talk much; we just sort of said hi and enjoyed being in each other's company again. But it was surreal because when I knew him, he had long blonde hair he kept in a ponytail and a killer goatee. When I saw him again, he was clean-shaven and he'd cut his hair so it only just reached his ears. He played my father in a one-act play we did together, he sort of looks like me and he shares my brother's name, so we used to joke that we were related. With his hair cut, he looked even more like me. That was weird. But it was so nice seeing him again.
