Thought y'all might like to see the process I typically go through when I'm trying to develop the look of a character, especially if I'm working on a likeness. Bone structure, simple shapes, eye/nose/lip types. Mix them together and you get a face.

Nice to see how much effort you throw into making these work well!

Me too. I love it when comics or DVDs include "making of" extras. I want to see how it's all done!

I watch more commentaries on the movies than movies these days! if/when I make my Pixar movies I will force them to include like... twenty hours of extras on there, and let me commentary 8 times. I found out Invader Zim had a commentary and that started it... I slowly realized people made story collaborations for a living.
Now I'm miserable to watch movies with because I say, "Now... coming up, watch Dory's eyes qui-ver.... riiiiight.... THERE! Did you see it? Did you see how much that added to the scene?"
And so on. Drives em nuts.

Sometimes it really does add a lot. Especially funny little things that were missed. Nathan Fillion does a LOT of little facial ticks that are hard to catch without having them pointed out. Once you know where they are, tho...comic GOLD.
