Description

Made a soundtrack, for all you people who like to know the sounds that go with a character. I hath uploaded it (in all its massive size file glory) at Megaupload here: [link]

EDIT: OR you can listen to it (minus a few songs) on imeen [link]

The tracks, with titles/artists are listed below, with reasons for why all of them were chosen.

01 - "Out of this World" by Bush
For some reason, I see this as an end credits song for all of OG. Especially considering the environment is named (creatively) "the World". That, and it's a melancholy song to start with, which seems appropriate.

02 - "Heartbeat (Instrumental)" from Kal Ho Naa Ho
I just imaging Frost staring at the ceiling without seeing it on the couch when this starts. Then Collin pads up, climbs up next to him, and falls asleep listening to Frost's heartbeat. Frost blinks, looks down at Collin, and smiles softly, suddenly brought back from dark thoughts to the pleasant present.

03 - "I Want To Be Evil" from Kinky Boots, sung by Chiwetel Ejiofor.
I just...I see Frost singing this. Yes, Frost can be evil, but so much of it is fake that at times it can be more of a farce than a force. Frost kicking around in an outrageous outfit in a completely over-the-top manner just seems to fit.

EDIT: Ah! How could I forget "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny" by (I think) Lemon Demon??? Shame on me! It'll be 04b, and you can find it here:[link]

04 - "Metro" by The Vincent Black Shadow
Crazy? Yeah, that would be the impression Frost goes for in a fight.

05 - "Pixie" by Ani DiFranco
I don't know why this is a Frost song, but it is. He insisted on it. I kept taking it out, he kept putting it back in. Maybe someday I'll know why.

06 - "Waltz (waltz in blue)" from Gankutsuou
A lot of Frost's creation was while either watching this Anime, or listening to the music, so there's a lot from that soundtrack in here. That said, this is NOT a Frost song. It's a Collin song. For when Collin's busy absorbed in a book of fun, adventure, and thermodynamics.

07 - "Falling Down" by The Birthday Massacre
I think so much of Frost is the way his is because he's ALWAYS falling down and picking himself up. Not in the literal way, but in the life-has-handed-you-a-raw-deal AGAIN way. Everything he does is five times as hard as it would be for someone else. Part of his personality guarantees this, but his luck is also incredibly bad. He doesn't have a lot of pride at this point, but he has his own rough-and-tumble dignity.

08 - "War in Me" by Kenna
Frost is a very conflicted character, because his heart is actually very gentle and caring, particularly for his brother, who he truly would do ANYTHING for. His mind, however, is very cold, and has determined that the best way to protect Collin is to eliminate all traces of that good heart. So there's always a war going on in Frost between what his mind thinks is best and what he actually wants to do.

09 - "Rest in Peace" sung by James Marsters from "Once More, With Feeling"
A lot of Spike, from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has crept into Frost's behavior. Particularly Season Seven Spike, who was the BEST PART of that whole season. Seriously. Yes, I may be a fan girl, but...I mean...he's HIM. Great character, amazing actor. So it seemed appropriate to include him in the soundtrack.

10 - "Tapes"
A lot of Frost runs on autopilot when he's stressed, which is most of the time, but he often feels trapped by those patterns. I wonder, if Frost didn't have the circumstances he does, what would he be like?

11 - "Anger (Edmond kara no Tegami)" from Gankutsuo
This would be a fight song. Frost is kinda hard to piss off, actually, but once you get him going - look out, here comes a TRAIN WRECK TO PAAAAIN.

12 - "Pi song"
This is a Collin song. Yes, I know it's hard to imagine that this couldn't belong to Frost, with his intense hatred of math, but it just simply belongs to the young child who insisted on having pi plastered all over his PJs.

13 - "Cats on Mars" from Cowboy BeBop
Another Collin song. This kid is just too damn peppy.

14 - "Tell Me Why" by Asia
Last Collin song. This touches on one of Collin's main issues, which is trust. On the one hand, he knows that Frost will always protect him. On the other hand, he doesn't trust what Frost SAYS, and he grieves at the sacrifices Frost is willing to make, especially since Collin doesn't want Frost giving up the very things he loves.

15 - "Kingdom For A Heart" by Sonata Arctica
The sentiment is here, even if the lyrics aren't an exact match. Just following on the idea that Frost would give anything to buy even a moment of happiness for Collin.

16 - "Finale 'Wicked'" from Wicked
The feeling Frost secretly thinks people would have if he died. He's wicked, no one will mourn him, his death will be a gift. The only person who will remember him is Collin, and Collin will be a good person because Frost existed. It's that Saint/Demon dichotomy of a Martyr complex, which Frost has in spades. He simultaneously exalts and degrades himself.

17 - "You won't see me coming" from Gankutsuou
Another fight song. Frost generally doesn't attack from behind, but he can go from a seemingly nice guy to beating the crap out of you without even blinking an eye. One minute, you'll be having a simple conversation. The next, you've got a face-full of iron pipe.

18 - "Maniac" by Michael Sembello
...This is Frost's themesong.
The fact that the original lyrics for this were "He's a maniac, maniac, that's for sure. He will kill your cat and nail it to your door," just make it SO much better.

19 - "Replica" by Sonata Arctica
Frost wears a mask so often that it leaves the rest of him a little hollow.

20 - "New Sacred Cow" by Kenna
Defiant Frost. His heart's getting the better of him.

21 - "sorrow (Shukumei)" from Gankutsuou
Frost thinking of the present and the future. Frost has issues with thinking happy thoughts.

22 - "Rectifier" by Ra
This is probably closer to what Frost would sing for other people, rather than Maniac, as a theme song. Only, instead of using the word "Rectifier" he always sings it as "Rectum Fire" in my head. It's PISSING ME OFF. Now, when you listen to it, you can be equally annoyed...

23 - "Kaishou" from Gankutsuou
This song is...well, this song is Frost if Collin was to die. Hopelessness, stunned shock, grief, and a bubbling wellspring of despair. All leading to a loss of any limits, and boundaries, or any sense of self preservation.

24 - "Make A Wish" by Conjure One
To me, this is a conversation between Frost and Death. Yes, I know I'm a morbid little crazy person. Still, Frost has an odd fascination with death. He sees it, no matter how violent, as a release. He's very, very tired. Death would be a final chance to rest.
